Andrew Topalian 9/6/1932-3/23/2024
Andrew Topalian died Saturday, March 23rd, at the age of 91 while residing at the Jewish Home Family in Rockleigh NJ.
Andrew was born September 6th, 1932 in Bridgeport, CT where he resided for 90 years. He worked for United Illuminating Co. after being honorably discharged from the United States Navy, seeing active duty in the Korean War from March 1954 to March 1956.
Andrew was the doting son of Zakar and Agavne, both Armenian genocide survivors. Andrew lovingly took care of his parents, driving them wherever they needed to go, doing the grocery shopping and managing their finances and medical needs. He especially took great care of his mother as her health declined.
Andrew was also a loving brother to his older sister, Rose, and younger brother Jerry, both deceased. He was a beloved and generous uncle to his nieces Christina Tashjian, husband Douglas, and Linda Keshishian, husband Ardo and a GREAT uncle to their children: Nicholas, Alec, Lenna, Michael, and Gregory.
Andrew was one of the most generous people with both his time and money. He was there to lend a hand to his friends and family whenever needed. While Andrew worked hard, he played even harder. From a young age, he gave his parents and teachers a “run for their money”! Andrew had a huge heart with a touch of mischievousness. He loved spending time with his family especially during the holidays. He enjoyed eating and drinking with friends at the VFW, going to Atlantic City, watching the UConn girls basketball games, and taking the train to NYC, specifically Little Italy, where, like Norm, everyone at the bar knew his name.
Andy brought joy to all those who were lucky enough to have had him in their life. He will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Armenian Church of the Holy Ascension, 1460 Huntington Turnpike, Trumbull, CT 06611.
