Violet T. Polena age 85, of Trumbull, passed away on July 1, 2017 at Shady Knolls Health Care in Seymour. She was born in Bridgeport and lived in Trumbull most of her life.  She was a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University where she received her Bachelor's degree and pursued her graduate degree at the University of Bridgeport. She taught in the Stratford and Milford public schools for 33 years. She was active in the Teuta Society in St. George's Albanian Orthodox Church and participated in the church choir for several years. Violet was loved and respected by many and will be remembered for her kindness. She is survived by her sisters Evelyn Melnikoff and her husband Boris of GA, Addie Coppola and her husband Eugene of Seymour; nieces and nephews including  Dr. Greg Melnikoff and his wife Anna, Serge Melnikoff, Mark Melnikoff, Tara Coppola, Dorie Neary and her husband William; and several grand nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to attend her funeral services on Thursday at 10:15 a.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home 399 White Plains Rd., and at 11:00 a.m. at St. George Albanian Orthodox Church 5490 Main St. Trumbull. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may greet the family at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd. from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. George Albanian Orthodox Church 5490 Main St. Trumbull.
